American Idol Gives Back

These are my two favorite montages from American Idol Gives Back (the huge fundraiser concert that raised over $70 million dollars for AIDS and Malaria victims in Africa).

It's really wonderful that American Idol decided to use their popularity and money-making capabilities to help Africa and raise awareness among their young viewers, who are rarely exposed to extreme poverty in other parts of the world.

Wow. I didn't think it possible that Simon Cowell had a heart until I saw his reaction to the poverty and sickness he encountered in Africa. He may stick it to mediocre talented puffed up singers, but I'm glad he showed his vulnerabilty by taking an interest in making a difference for the impoverished.

I love that Up To The Mountain song that Kelly Clarkson sang. Who wrote that? Those are really beautiful words.

Lynda,

That song is written and recorded by Patty Griffin. You can find her version of that song on IMEEM.COM or on my myspace (there is a link to it on the side bar labeled "important sites")
