Ahh...Goofy, but Brilliant

Jon Stewart, host of the Daily Show, nailed the mainstream media's insatiable appetite for sensationalism, catch-twenty-two's, and double standards in this satirical-bit from last night's show. It's funny, don't be offended. :)

As the media indulges in the "mint-chocolate chip" subterfuge of the moment, can the rest of us get back to discussing real issues and not guilt by association. Yes, Wright crossed the line and squandered the opportunity to be a sane critic of Babylonian-esqu aspects of America, but must Barack Obama account for all of this? He came out and denounced the comments. Can't we hold him accountable for ISSUES. All the candidates are guilty of "association" with the "wrong" people. There are plenty of reasons voters can justifiably disagree with Obama and vote for someone else, and I respect that. But the mainstream media is doing a grave disservice to republicans, democrats, and everyone in between by continually distracting us with fake controversies and under-reporting the real issues that plague our country.

I almost fell out of my chair in laughter when he whipped out that huge vat of icecream! Hysterical! Thankfully someone is calling the media on its absurdity.

Very funny! I wasn't offended by the video at all. He makes a good point. Do you know how often the phrase GD is bantered about not only in the movies, but on TV, and even in many people conversations?

I am more offended by Wright's assertion that his brand of theology is rooted in the hearts and minds of most Blacks. Of course I disagree with that! And certainly it doesn't reflect the God of the Bible as I read it. This man is a nut soaking up his 15minutes. And while I do think Sen. Obama is more familiar with this man's views than he is letting on, I think it's wrong to continue to ask him to account for every deranged word that comes out of his mouth. Mrs. Clinton must be on cloud nine.

Our media is useless as it relates to anything of substance anymore. It's all about sensationalism.

Very funny, Tia. Thanks for sharing it. It speaks loud and clearly, and drives home the truth of media sensationalism! What a great find!

Why is it OK for republicans to court the likes of Pat Robertson, who also "damns" America on a daily basis but Barack Obama cannot have a whacky pastor that has been more like family to him than the foundation for his faith?

What would we do without Jon Stewart keeping tabs on corporate-ran media???

Hilarious Tia !!! How on earth did they ever get this past the censors??? Same way Mad TV does I guess, depends on how well you're connected...

There are censors? Who knew?

I thought it was fine because everything was bleeped!

I meant the PC (politically correct) censors. For being "insensitive" to the African American community. Mad TV has walked the razor's edge for quite awhile now, and I thought their Wizard of Oz stunt several years back would have gotten them taken off the air. Evidently not, cuz' they're still goin' strong.
