Hello Tia, You write beautifully, and I will totally enjoy reading your posts. I actually just listened to the whole Bono thing. I had no idea it was so long, but it was impressive.
God uses whomever He chooses. Bono may noy wear a tie, live behind a pulpit or even sit in a pew on Sundays, but his message is more relevant and true to the radical sacrificial teaching of Christ than anything I've heard from any pulpit in years. Great post!
Moving Speech, and from a rock star! Who woulda thunk? It's so refreshing to see someone using their fame to promote the plight of the poor and not just their own egos.
This blog exists to present diverse viewpoints concerning a range of topics from biblical concepts and interpretations to pressing current events that receive little OPEN discussion in many Christian circles. Such topics tend to get oversimplified, polarized into extremes, or made into "black and white" issues by the POPULAR opposing sides. I love Jesus and ALL His people, especially those who do not know Him yet. I am independent politically and refuse to align with either Democrats or Republicans. I aim to question some of the prevailing notions that fly about accepted and untested in Christendom. My intent is not to offend or cause division among believers, but to search out the freedom that deepens believers to become a Body that is diverse, yet unified, truthful, yet encompassing, justice-seeking, yet compassionate, and well-informed.
To care for the poor is to know God (Jeremiah 22:16)
God is with the vulnerable and the poor. God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is in the cries heard under the rubble or war. God is in the debris of wasted opportunities and lives. And God is with us, if we are with them.
